As its agriculture and local businesses continue to grow, reliable connectivity has become an important part of supporting everyday life and the municipality’s continued development.
From Coast to Community
Across Hinigaran, from Barangays I to IV, Bato, Himaya, Pilar, Tagda, and the municipality’s other barangays, each community adds to Hinigaran’s unique identity. Whether along the coast or farther inland, these communities contribute to Hinigaran’s identity and local economy. As more services, information, and opportunities become available online, reliable internet has also become one of the many ways communities stay linked with one another and with the world beyond their municipality.
One of Hinigaran’s 24 barangays is Barangay Miranda, located in the northern part of the municipality. Based on the 2020 Census, it has a population of 6,172, making up 6.94% of Hinigaran’s total population. Like many barangays in the municipality, Miranda reflects the character of Hinigaran, a community shaped by its residents’ shared traditions.
Today, Barangay Miranda is among the communities served by KCAT’s cable and fiber internet services. By expanding reliable connectivity across Hinigaran’s barangays, KCAT continues to support the municipality’s vision of a more connected community, helping bring people, information, and opportunities closer together.
Why Rural Connectivity Matters
Connecting rural communities helps narrow the digital divide across the Philippines. It gives geographically isolated areas better access to education, healthcare, government services, and livelihood opportunities, allowing residents to thrive without leaving their communities.
A reliable internet connection is more than a convenience, it’s an important tool that supports community development. Across municipalities like Hinigaran, connectivity helps make essential services and opportunities more accessible through:
- Access to Education
- Improved Healthcare (Telemedicine)
- Economic Empowerment & Financial Inclusion
- More Efficient Government Services
- Stronger Disaster Response
- Better Communication Across Communities
- Greater Access to Information
- More Opportunities for Local Businesses
Our Mission to Connect
Throughout the Philippines, efforts to improve internet access continue to help bridge the digital divide. Through initiatives such as the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s (DICT) National Broadband Plan and Free Wi-Fi for All Program, more communities are gaining access to digital services and opportunities.
KCAT’s mission complements these nationwide efforts which help bring reliable connectivity closer to communities. By serving municipalities such as Hinigaran, KCAT supports the growing need for dependable internet that keeps homes, businesses, and communities connected in an increasingly digital world.
Digital Access Across the Archipelago
Built around the realities of the Philippines’ archipelagic setting, the initiative focuses on expanding digital access so that more remote communities can connect to essential services and opportunities.
From its coastal communities to its 24 barangays, Hinigaran continues to evolve while remaining rooted in the values that define the municipality. As new opportunities emerge in the digital world, reliable internet brings communities closer to the wider world. KCAT is proud to be part of Hinigaran’s story, supporting the connections that help the municipality move forward.
