KCAT HISTORY

The Kabankalan Community Antenna television System, (K-CAT) Inc., was established in 1993. It was made into a Corporation under SER. Reg. # RSO93000042 which was filed in the Commission on February 23, 1993 and was duly registered as a Corporation on March 8, 1993.

K-CAT, Inc. initially serves the nine (9) barangays in the poblacion proper of Kabankalan and was later on expanded to Barangays of Binicuil and Talubangi. July 6, 1996, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the government agency that regulates the operation of Cable TV businesses in the Philippines, granted K-CAT a Certificate of Registration to operate TV Receive Only System (TVRO). March 6, 1996, NTC issued K-CAT a Station License to legally operate a Cable System in the area of Kabankalan. The License is then renewed annually. July 9, 1998, K-CAT, Inc., application for Certificate of Authority (CA) to operate a Cable TV System was granted by the National Telecommunications Commission. 

CA is a licensed granted by the commission to a cable operator; be individual or corporation, as long as it meets all the requirements of the commission and is being renewed every 10 years. K-CAT, Inc., is also an active member of the Philippine Cable Television Association (PCTA), the first and the biggest Cable Television Association in the Philippines. May 2010, K-CAT, Inc., expands its cable line to the Municipality of Ilog via fiber optic cable line. Poblacion Ilog and Brgy. Dancalan proper were fully activated in September 16, 2010 and eventually more barangays in Ilog will have cable connections.
